A man like him should become prime minister a hundred times."
Blood is thicker than water, of course. That should explain why Smt. Devamma feels so strongly about her nephew. Unfortunately, she has no way of knowing, I suppose, the diametrically opposite views of ordinary citizens. For example, she should read a sample of reader submissions, extracted from churumuri.wordpress.com & posted here:
- The very name Devegowda is a bane to Karnataka. Unless he retires from public life, the State won’t prosper.
- Are you a thief? If yes, why? — is it your upbringing, or the ambition of your rascal sons, or the nature of Karnataka politics, or something else?
- For a man who talks about doing so much for the poor, can you please disclose assets held in the name of all your family members, and when/how you got them?
- Whew!! I can’t really think of a decent, civil question to him! :(
- When do you think your son Ravana (oops!! sorry, Revanna) will become the next Prime… (oops!! sorry) Chief Minister of Karnataka?
- Mr Gowda, when would you gracefully fade away from public life and hence make public life richer?
- Gowdre , what were you thinking of when you used to go to sleep /slumber on the dias like clockwork?
Personally, I thought the best comment was this:
Do you sleep well at night ?
God help India, in case he becomes PM even just once more!
Ravi,
ReplyDeleteI dont really think it would make any difference for India even if anybody else becomes the Prime Minister. That is most evident from the low turn-out for voting in the elections.
And a stupid IAS collector in Maharashtra is attributing it to the long weekend that people want to enjoy. He is talking about elections as if it is a exhibition cricket match where there is no crowd because of the long weekend.
With this kind of an attitude from Indian Voter and the beaurocrats, India is surviving as Independent country only and only on God's Grace.
